Abstract:By using the MODIS and FY2 satellite data on October 16 2009 and the Rosenfeld satellite retrieval method, the cloud microphysical characteristics are retrieved. By analyzing the microphysical characteristics of cloud parameters, such as the effective radius of cloud particles and supercooled water content, as well as artificial rain reduction operating conditions, the preliminary impacts of weather systems on the opening ceremony and the effectiveness of artificial rain reduction are analyzed. It is showed that the cold air spread from the Mongolian cyclone was developed. After the artificial rain reduction, the height of cloud tops continued to decline while the noseeding clouds seemed to develop, which indicates that the artificial rain reduction operation suppressed, to a certain degree, the development of convective clouds.
