Abstract:The statistic characteristics of hourly precipitation are preliminarily analyzed on basis of automatic rain gauge records from 95 weather stations from April to October, 1999 to 2005 in the midsouthern Hebei Province. The spatial distributional characteristics and basic statistic regularities of hourly precipitation are obtained. It is found out that the distribution of hourly precipitation has obvious geographical and seasonal features; the intensity is generally the largest at dawn or in dusk, and the smallest in the morning. The color scale of the radar precipitation product is adjusted according to the distribution of rainfall measurement, whereby the interval is shorten in the small value range and lengthened in the large range, which can highlight the levels of little values in rainfall display, and can track the genesis, evolution, and movement of rainfall centers. The product has certain significance to the refine precipitation forecasting.
