Abstract:The fiercely developed coastal low that appears frequently along the South African coast often brings about abnormal weather.The wind direction turn from northeast to southwest and the winds and waves become very intricate.This abnormal winds and waves have a great influence on vessel sailing.An analysis is made of the abnormal winds and waves and an meteorological-routing example is given.Some suggestions are presented for vessels sailing in this sea area: keep away as far as possible from this abnormal winds and waves;be careful of the variation of the pressure and wind fields over the surrounding area;choose the best refuge harbor according to the actual situation once encountered bad weather and sea conditions.
